Dagpo Rinpoche's advice is sensible and practical. The last thing we want is to confuse a person on his death bed. We can read verses from the holy books of the person's religion. This will help to provide comfort and bring forth a peaceful mind. Even in ordinary circumstances, it is not advisable to try to influence another person in favour of one's own religion or to convert them if they are not ready. If one is not skilful, this can lead to confusion and instability in the person's practice of his own religion.
